Bar and bottle shop. Relatively rudimentary with the dreaded grey paint at the bar (and floor!!). Four cask and ten keg taps. My Black Edge Stout was freshly pulled through (NBSS 3.5) served by an ostensibly friendly, if fairly uncommunicative, barman. GBG listed. 7.5

The Bird Inth'Hand is situated on Darwen's main street and is a bottle shop and bar named after a pub of the same name that stood here 100 years ago,with a friendly and knowledgeable landlord at the helm.
The bar is quite spacious and much larger than it appears from the outside,with on the right long shelves displaying interesting real ale bottles ect.To the left is a window seating area ust before the well stocked bar which has 4 ever changing beers on the go.Beyond the bar are 2 further rooms and further still is a ramp to an excellent beer garden with an admirable floral display.
Worth a visit if you are in the area.
